Q. What will I learn in the Intermediate classes?

A. The Intermediate curriculum consists of deeper tactics, middlegame plans, piece activation, positional aspects, endgame techniques, and tournament preparation.

Q. What happens when my online course is finished?

A. You will be provided with a course completion certificate! We strongly recommend students to go for advanced levels with us after completing a 12 month course.

Q. Can I join a chess class mid-course?

A. Yes, you can join ongoing chess classes after an initial evaluation of your skill level.

Q. Will my child get to play in tournaments?

A. Yes. We host monthly tournaments on FIDE Online Arena, both rated and unrated. Rated tournaments need a FIDE Online Arena membership, which we’ll help you set up.

Q. How do I assess the progress made in the classes?

A. Every family gets a parent dashboard showing classes and progress. On 1:1 plans, your child also receives an AI summary after each class they attend, and you get a monthly AI progress report once they’ve attended 4 classes that month.

Q. What are AI class summaries?

A. After every 1:1 class your child attends, they get a short recap of what they covered and what to practise next. It summarises the class their teacher took.

Q. Can I contact the teacher directly?

A. All communication with the teacher will happen through our platform. You can send messages to the teacher directly from the platform. In case of urgency, our team will be happy to facilitate a conversation.

Q. What happens if a student misses a class?

A. If a student misses a class without prior cancellation, the session count will be deducted. However, if the class is cancelled in advance (at least 1 hour prior), the class will be carried forward without reducing the eligible session count.

Q. What is the duration of each online class?

A. Each group & buddy session for online class is for 55 mins while the individual session is for 45 minutes.

Q. Which are the different batch options available?

A. We offer three batch options tailored to meet your child’s learning needs: Group (1:5): An engaging, interactive experience with up to 5 kids per batch, encouraging collaborative learning. Buddy (1:2): A personalized setting with just 2 kids per batch, offering more individual attention. Individual (1:1): A fully customized, one-on-one experience, designed to focus entirely on your child’s progress and interests.

Q. Is there an option to cancel the classes for a few days in between?

A. Yes, you can cancel a class through the dashboard if the student is unable to attend, provided it is done at least 1 hour before the scheduled class time. Arunraj S.: He is an experienced Chess Trainer with over 5 years of expertise in teaching chess to children. He holds FIDE Developmental Instructor (DI) and School Instructor (SI) licences and is a certified National Arbiter, with a FIDE rating of 1561. Guided by the belief in Johannes Zukertort’s famous quote, “Chess is the struggle against error,” Arunraj focuses on identifying each learner’s strengths and areas for improvement. His teaching approach emphasises personalised learning, ensuring every student receives guidance tailored to their individual needs and skill level.

Harshad Hagawane: He is an AICF-certified Chess Trainer under the Chess in Schools programme, with over five years of professional coaching experience. He has worked with learners across different age groups and skill levels, helping them build a strong foundation in chess and progress towards more advanced concepts. A competitive chess player with a FIDE rating of 1599, Harshad has secured first place in the Below 1100 Rating Categories B and C at the 2nd Goa International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament, as well as first place in the 1300–1500 category at the Alshayyah Blitz Tournament in 2019. His teaching approach combines structured lessons, practical games, puzzles and game analysis to help students strengthen their tactical calculation, strategic understanding and independent thinking. He aims to make learning chess engaging while helping children develop concentration, patience and problem-solving skills.

Ranjeet Rajput: He is an AICF-certified Chess Trainer and FIDE Senior National Arbiter, with around five years of chess-teaching experience. He has worked with children aged 4–16 and taught learners across more than 10 countries through TalentGum. A FIDE-rated chess player with a peak rating of 1586, Ranjeet won the Ramban District Chess Championship in 2022 and reports being recognised as the best state player at the 2024 Kashmir Open FIDE-rated Chess Tournament. His teaching approach combines structured practice with real-life and practical examples to help children analyse positions, make informed decisions and navigate challenging situations. He focuses on developing independent thinking and confidence, while making chess learning engaging and relevant to everyday life.

Rinal Das Singha Roy: He is an AICF-affiliated Chess Coach and Trainer with around four years of chess-teaching experience, including approximately two years with TalentGum. He has worked with children of different ages and backgrounds, using a friendly, engaging approach to make chess concepts easier to understand. Rinal has an FOA rating of 1100 and has helped students achieve success, with two of his students winning district-level chess championships. His teaching style combines relatable examples from real life and popular culture with explanations tailored to each child’s learning pace. He aims to make chess enjoyable and accessible while helping students understand concepts more easily and build confidence in their game.

Ritika Nag: She is a chess coach with professional teaching experience since 2019 and holds the FIDE Arbiter (FA) title. She has a peak rapid rating of 1321 on the FIDE Online Arena and has officiated at prestigious events, including the 44th FIDE World Chess Olympiad, Grandmaster tournaments and the National Team Chess Championship. Her coaching experience includes working with Upsteps Academy by Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand and other chess academies.
